Season 1
Episode 1: Electronic Tap SoloSaturday Oct. 28, 2006
Episode 3: Going in CirclesSaturday Nov. 18, 2006
Episode Details: Art work by David Yue; Music, lyrics, and choreography by Timothy Yue. I have to warn viewers that subject matter of this song is very dark. The song's story comes from one of my worst nightmares. It had a Memento, injury, memory-loss component. I wanted to post this song, because I really like the African drums synthesized with electronic taps. Tie Your Shoes Faster
Episode 3: Going in Circles
Saturday Dec. 2, 2006
Episode Details: Art work by David Yue; Music, lyrics, and choreography by Timothy Yue. I wanted to post this song next, because I really like the scratchy drum kit from the synthesizer with electronic taps. As with the previous episode, plug some good headphones into your computer, or hook up to some good speakers to hear the bassiness of the drum synth. with electronic taps. Episode 4: Finger of Fame
Episode 5: Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca
Saturday Dec. 9, 2006
Episode Details: Choreographed and performed Timothy Yue. Tap interpretation of Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca from KV 331, Piano Sonata No. 11 in A major, 3rd Movement. Klara Wurtz piano. Mozart's complete work. Tap dance performed on Timothy travel tap boards. Special thanks to Rocketboom for featuring my show on a recent episode, the resulting RB bump in hits on my site, and my 4 seconds of fame on their show. Episode 5: Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca
Episode 6: Grapevine
Saturday Jan. 6, 2007
Episode Details: Art work by David Yue; Choreographed by Timothy Yue; "I Heard It through the Grapevine" by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong in 1967; Standing in the Shadows of Motown(2002); California Raisins.
This piece is a tribute to the Funk Brothers, one of the great Motown bands. Grapevine is the first guitar/tap song I ever played. It epitomizes the polyrhythm. A simple rhythm and guitar riff combine to make a funk beat greater than the sum of its parts. Episode 6: Grapevine
Episode 7: Psychic Sex Dreams
Saturday Jan. 13, 2007
Episode Details: Art work by David Yue; Music, lyrics, and choreography by Timothy Yue.
Like Noam Chomsky's "Colorless green ideas sleep furiously," this psychedelic song has a cool sounding title, that makes no logical sense. For the best sound and the full bass listen on decent computer speakers, or plug some good headphones into your computer. Episode 7: Psychic Sex Dreams
Episode 8: Naked Surprise
Saturday Jan. 20, 2007
A Bluesy Rock song tells the fantasy of a girl wearing a long trench coat with an unexpected surprise waiting inside her jacket. Just wanted to put up a fun, little song. Hope you enjoy. Episode 8: Naked Surprise
Episode 9: Ballpoint
Saturday Feb. 3, 2007
I wrote this song on a summer day that was so hot that my pen was sweating and spewing its ink. Thinking about warmer weather on these chilly Philly days. Hope you enjoy. Episode 9: Ballpoint
Saturday Mar. 3, 2007
This song was inspired by a character from The Tesseract, by Alex Garland. I would like to invite you all to watch episode 1 in honor of Alfred Desio, a pioneer in the art of Tap. Episode 10: Red Mist
Saturday Mar. 17, 2007
This Rock song tells the story of a boy cleaning a pool shocked by a wily girl, going for a clandestine swim. I particularly like the techno drum kit played on electronic tap shoes. Episode 11: Skinny Dip
Saturday April 14, 2007
Episode Details: Art work by David Yue; Transcription, and performance by Timothy Yue; solo by Bill Bojangles Robinson, from The Littlest Rebel (1935), to "Turkey in the Straw"; performed on the Magic Carpet, designed and built by Timothy.
This episode is an early celebration of National Tap Dance Day (May 25th, Bojangles' birthday). In the coming weeks, I'll post some tap lessons teaching parts of this amazing solo. Episode 12: Bojangles and Me (Widescreen)
